Pre-Race Superstitions?
« on: April 10, 2018, 01:54:23 PM »
Anyone have any crazy pre-race superstitions that you have to do before the start of each race? A lucky shirt, lucky outfit, a special meal, or a tradition the night before?

I try to be as consistent as possible. Water bottle with water, a monster energy drink, and usually a bagel on the ride to the race. Then some energy blocks while setting up transition. Thats my typical race day plan.

Surprisingly for me I really don't have any pre-race superstitions.  The things you mentioned are more regular race prep that actual superstitions.  I do have a favorite pair of socks that I have worn in almost every race I have done, but that was more out of the fact that I just find them comfortable than superstition.

I am definitely consistent in my pre-race prep, but I don't know that I'd call it superstitious by any means. I know what works for me based off trial and error. I think superstition has to do with things that "could happen", I prefer to race with what I can make happen!

That being said, during my pre-race warm-up ride I do have a conversation with my bike about how we are going to dominate. ;D So it's not superstitious, but definitely a little cooky.
