Hello!
« on: April 03, 2018, 11:25:44 PM »
Hey everyone. Just a quick introduction. Ive been doing triathlon for a couple years now. I used it as a vehicle to get myself back into shape. I was a collegiate water polo player and swimmer, but after college found myself packing on the pounds. Nearly tipped the scales at 400lbs. Over the past 5 years, I have steadily increased my training and the pounds have dropped off. Ive gone from struggling to do a 5k in 44 minutes to completing Ironman Mont Tremblant in August of 2017. I have a 70.3 at Quassy planned for this year and probably a couple of sprints. Also going to volunteer up at Lake Placid this year. My big race comes in September, when I attempt to finish an 8 mile marathon swim that I failed at last year 2 weeks after IMMT.

Beyond triathlon, I enjoy camping, being outside, hanging with my son, and doing mechanical projects. I hope to meet some great people through this site and look forward to watching it grow!

-Matt

You have an incredible story!! Love hear how triathlon has changed your life. Sounds like we have a lot of the same interests, tri's when it's warm, camping when it's cold!

Looking forward to getting to know you more!

This has been a great sport to get involved in... I really do love the community and the competition. Ive also combined the camping with the racing, staying at a campground and racing the next day has been fun a few times!

Good stuff Matt!  I'm gunning for a Clydesdale medal at Escape The Cape this year!  If that happens lets go out for beers and wear our medals like geeks!
Happy that we met!  Once Mother Nature stops torturing us let's get out for some training!

Awesome! I hope you and I can go 1-2 on the podium this year and we WILL go out for beers after like geeks!

And I agree- once we blow through spring and hit summer (it feels like that is what will happen) we should get some mileage in and some training. Sounds good to me!
